Court Comes To A Standstill As Man Believed To Be Dead Shows Up During Murder Trial Of Suspect

A dramatic twist unfolded in a Kenyan courtroom when a man previously thought to be dead walked in during the ongoing murder trial of controversial preacher Paul Mackenzie.

The surprise appearance caused confusion among lawyers, court officials, and families linked to the case.

The man’s name had appeared on the official list of victims said to have died in the Shakahola forest tragedy.

His sudden reappearance has now cast doubt on parts of the prosecution’s evidence and raised questions about the accuracy of the victim identification process.

Paul Mackenzie, the leader of the Good News International Church, is accused of convincing his followers to fast to death, promising them salvation through starvation.

Hundreds of bodies were recovered from graves in the Shakahola forest in Kilifi County, making it one of the worst tragedies in Kenya’s recent history.

Investigators have faced enormous challenges in identifying victims due to the scale of the incident and the poor condition of many remains. DNA testing has been slow, and many families are still waiting for confirmation about their missing relatives.

The reappearance of a person presumed dead has now added another layer of complexity to an already difficult investigation.
