Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has strongly suggested that he is preparing to leave the Azimio coalition, signalling a major shift in the country’s political landscape.

Speaking during a campaign stop in Magarini on Monday, November 24, 2025, Kalonzo said the time had come for him to chart a new path, especially after the passing of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Kalonzo noted that Raila’s death created a political vacuum that forced many leaders to rethink their positions and future alliances.

He explained that Azimio had been built around Raila’s influence and leadership, and without him, the coalition needed to be re-evaluated.

According to the Wiper leader, the moment had come for him to make bold decisions that reflect the needs of his supporters and the direction the country is taking.

During his address, Kalonzo openly hinted that he was already exploring fresh political partnerships.

He confirmed that he has held early discussions with former Deputy President and Democratic Congress Party leader Rigathi Gachagua.

Though he avoided giving full details, Kalonzo said the talks were “promising” and focused on building a new political formation that could shape the upcoming elections.

He described the conversations with Gachagua as part of a broader plan to unite leaders who believe in economic fairness, national unity, and a peaceful political transition.

Kalonzo added that the two had agreed on the need to bring together regions that have often felt left out of national decision-making.

The Wiper boss also told his supporters that any move he makes will be guided by the people’s interests rather than personal ambition.

He urged them to remain calm and open-minded as he finalises his next steps, promising that he would not make decisions that betray their trust.
