A quiet village in Kitui County has been left in shock following a tragic double murder that has exposed a web of lies, betrayal, and heartbreak.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has revealed disturbing details about the woman who was shot dead by a police officer in Kanyonyoo.

The woman, identified as Joy Mutisya, had left her husband and children in Machakos, claiming she was heading to Kitengela in search of a job.

Unknown to her family, Joy had travelled to Kitui to meet a man believed to be her secret lover.

According to DCI reports, the officer tracked her to the home of her friend, Jane Ndanu, where she had sought refuge.

In a fit of rage, the officer is said to have opened fire using an AK-47rifle, killing both women instantly.

Witnesses said Jane tried to stop the officer from harming Joy, but he turned the weapon on both of them.

The officer later fled the scene, leaving behind the murder weapon in a nearby bush.

Joy’s husband, James Mutisya, and the rest of the family say they are still in disbelief.

Her father-in-law said they had never suspected any problems and were shocked by the revelation of her secret visit.

Kitui County police say the suspect is still on the run and a manhunt is underway.

Meanwhile, both families are preparing to bury their loved ones as they call for justice and accountability from authorities.

The incident has sparked debate on rising cases of gender-based violence and misconduct among security officers.
