Kenyan influencer Mercy Masai has come out to defend herself after rumours spread online that she was attacked by the wives of Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi.

The story started circulating over the weekend when an anonymous source posted on Edgar Obare’s Instagram page, claiming that the two wives were not happy with Mercy and had ganged up to beat her.

The gossip quickly gained attention because Mercy has in the past been linked to the politician.

In June, she posted photos while out on a date, and in August she shared more pictures from a dinner at a fancy restaurant.

Kenyans online compared the man she was with to Oscar Sudi, noting that his outfit and diamond watch matched what the MP had worn earlier the same day.

The pictures went viral and sparked dating rumours, which neither Mercy nor Sudi directly denied.

When the new claims of a beating came up, Mercy did not remain silent.

She released a video addressing the matter, where she completely denied being attacked.

In the video, she asked why people were spreading such stories about her.

“Ata kama mmeamua propaganda kwanini mseme nilichapwa? Who is that trying to say nilichapwa?” she said.

Mercy added that although she has been in situations where she was the one who confronted another woman, she has never been beaten herself.

She admitted that fighting is not something to be proud of but insisted that the rumours of her being assaulted were completely false.

She also questioned where people get such “tea,” saying gossipmongers were determined to destroy her image.

Mercy described herself as a good person and added that even her partner would never think of hurting her.

The influencer asked Kenyans to ignore the rumours and not believe everything they see online.

She explained that people are quick to spread lies, especially when it involves celebrities or politicians.

For now, Mercy has made her position clear: no fight ever happened, and she was never beaten by Sudi’s wives.
