A disturbing video from a Shell petrol station in Kampala, Uganda, has caused public outrage after a police officer was captured on CCTV assaulting a female cashier during a heated exchange.

The officer, identified as ASP Clive Nsiima Barigye, was seen in the viral footage slapping the woman twice after she asked him to pay for the fuel he had received.

In the video, Barigye appeared angry and boastful, shouting at the attendant as other employees watched in shock.

He reportedly yelled at her, asking if she had ever driven such a car and questioning whether she thought he could run away with 30,000 shillings.

He then warned her that he could slap her even while being recorded by CCTV.

Moments later, he struck her across the face, leaving her trembling and in tears, before hitting her again as she cried for help.

Witnesses said the officer had attempted to leave without paying, and the confrontation began when the cashier questioned him about it.

A woman believed to be his wife entered the shop to calm him down, while a security guard and staff remained silent, afraid to interfere.

Vivo Energy Uganda, the company that operates Shell outlets, issued a strong statement condemning the attack.

The management said they were working closely with the police and offering support to the victim.

“We strongly condemn any form of violence or misconduct towards our staff or customers,” the company stated.

The Uganda Police later confirmed that ASP Barigye had been arrested following the incident.

The video has since gone viral, with social media users demanding strict disciplinary action to restore trust in the police service.
