Kathiani Member of Parliament Robert Mbui has dismissed the narrative that President William Ruto and his top officials are religious and God-fearing.

Ruto has, since his days as Deputy President, given out the image of a staunch christian, who attends services and participates in church fundraisers.

But Mbui, who belongs to the opposition, says that all this was pretence, wondering why things are different now that Ruto is in State House.

He claims that were Ruto as religious as he claims, him and his government would not be subjecting Kenyans to the hardships they are.

"Kenya Kwanza abused the church by buying church leaders. We were told ‘kitawaramba’ and it sure has turned against us. There was pretence of being religious, but God-fearing people would not punish Kenyans as much as this regime," he said on Citizen TV's Daybreak show on Wednesday.

He also said that as Wiper party, they have made up their minds to engineer Ruto's downfall in 2027 by fronting a rival who will replace him.

This, he stated, is Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, whose candidacy, he stated, is no longer debatable.

"Kalonzo Musyoka will vie for presidency in 2027. We have now declared as the Wiper Party," he confirmed.
