President William Ruto on Wednesday left residents of Emali, Makueni County, in stitches after making a light-hearted remark to a local MCA during a public rally.
While issuing title deeds to hundreds of landowners, the President humorously told the MCA, “Wewe MCA unanipea amri, kwani haujui mimi ni Rais wa Kenya?” (You, MCA, are giving me orders? Don’t you know I’m the President of Kenya?). The crowd burst into laughter, cheering as Ruto continued his address.
The President’s visit to Makueni was part of his government’s nationwide land regularization programme, aimed at resolving decades-long land disputes and empowering Kenyans with legal ownership documents.
Ruto said the issuance of title deeds was a key step in ensuring that citizens could use their land productively, especially for farming and development projects. “A title deed is more than just a paper — it is freedom, it is wealth,” he said.
The Head of State also urged the youth to embrace hard work and creativity, emphasizing that success comes from effort and determination. “Vijana kazi ni kujituma. Nitawapeleka majuu wakaganye kazi!” he quipped, encouraging them to make the most of local opportunities before seeking employment abroad.
Ruto further assured residents that his administration would continue investing in infrastructure, water, and education projects across the region to improve living standards.
The event drew thousands of locals who praised the government’s efforts to address historical land injustices and promote economic growth in Makueni County.
