Emotions ran high as Raila Odinga’s sister, Ruth, expressed deep gratitude and amazement at the overwhelming number of people visiting her late brother’s gravesite.

Speaking to reporters, Ruth remarked, “As you heard from Al Jazeera, this has become the most visited grave in the world — perhaps comparable to that of the Pope. This clearly shows how deeply my brother was loved.”

She went on to question the narrative that Raila had repeatedly lost elections despite his massive following.

How can someone be loved by so many people, and yet we are constantly told he lost the elections? Clearly, something was not right — and now the truth is beginning to come out,” Ruth added, hinting at growing public reflection on Raila’s political journey and legacy.

The gravesite at Kang’o ka Jaramogi — a place of rich history and emotion — has become a center of national and international attention.

Since Raila’s passing, thousands of mourners and supporters have made their way there daily to pay their respects.

Ruth confirmed that several high-profile leaders were also expected to visit, underscoring the depth of admiration and respect for the late leader.

"People are still coming. I’ve heard that President Tshisekedi will be arriving with an even larger delegation. This shows just how beloved my brother was,” she said.

Social media platforms have been flooded with emotional tributes, photos, and hashtags celebrating Raila’s legacy.

The digital outpouring of grief and admiration reflects both the political and emotional weight he carried throughout his life — and even in death, the influence of Raila Odinga continues to unite and move people across borders.
