Conjoined twins Carmen and Lupita Andrade have shown the world that love, respect, and open communication can overcome even the most unusual challenges.

The sisters, who were born in Mexico in 1999 and now live in the United States, have lived far beyond the expectations of doctors, and continue to inspire many with their honesty and courage.

Carmen, 25, married Daniel McCormack in October 2024 at a small ceremony held at Lover’s Leap Bridge in New Milford, Connecticut.

She met Daniel on the dating app Hinge back in 2020, and the two built a relationship based on friendship, laughter, and trust before deciding to marry.

The sisters share parts of their bodies, including ribs, pelvis, and some of their circulatory, digestive, and reproductive systems.

However, each has her own heart, lungs, and stomach, which makes them medically unique but still individuals in their own right.

That individuality is something they both work hard to protect, especially now that Carmen is married.

In an interview, Carmen explained that intimacy in her marriage is guided by constant conversations and mutual respect.

“If my sister Lupita is not comfortable with anything, we just respect that,” she said.

Lupita added that she sets her own boundaries during private moments and often keeps herself occupied.

“I have headphones and a phone. I don’t care,” she said, making it clear she gives the couple their space.

Daniel, 28, admitted that many people constantly ask intrusive questions about their sex life.

He dismissed the curiosity as unnecessary. “People are obsessed with sex, you know? Frankly, it’s none of your business,” he said.

Carmen agreed, saying society should not need details about their private life in order to see them as human beings.

The sisters also revealed that having children is not part of Carmen and Daniel’s future plans.

Daniel joked that he prefers the idea of being an uncle rather than a father, as it allows them to enjoy children without the responsibility of raising them.

Despite constant public attention, Carmen and Lupita continue to live life on their own terms.

For them, humour, openness, and respect remain the key to navigating marriage and sisterhood.
