According to her, her parents betrayed her, leaving scars that affected her confidence and emotional well-being.
Growing up, Kendi struggled with low self-esteem and a sense of rejection from the people who were supposed to protect and support her the most.
As she reached adulthood, Kendi made a bold decision. She chose to marry her boyfriend, fully aware that her parents did not approve.
“They never supported my relationship and have not acknowledged my marriage even after four years,” she said.
This lack of parental approval has created ongoing tension and emotional strain.
The journey has been difficult. Kendi described a constant push-and-pull with her parents, a cycle of conflict and disappointment.
“It was painful growing up with that feeling of rejection. I always wondered why the people closest to me could hurt me this way,” she shared.
Despite the challenges, Kendi has worked hard to heal. She said therapy, self-reflection, and leaning on supportive friends and her spouse helped her regain confidence and emotional stability.
“I’ve learned to forgive myself first and accept that some people may never change,” she explained.
However, reconciliation is not on the horizon. Kendi made it clear that while she has moved past the worst of the pain, she is not ready to repair the relationship with her parents.
“Healing does not mean forgetting. I have grown stronger, but I cannot pretend the betrayal didn’t happen,” she said.
Her story serves as a powerful example of resilience in the face of family conflict.
It highlights the reality that healing does not always require forgiveness or reconciliation, especially when trust has been broken.
Kendi’s experience also signifies the importance of self-worth and creating boundaries for personal well-being.
Kendi hopes that by sharing her story, others who feel abandoned or betrayed by their families can find courage and learn to prioritize their own emotional health.
“You don’t have to wait for approval or love from those who hurt you. Your life is yours to live,” she concluded.
