A light moment unfolded in Meru on Sunday when Igembe Central MP Dan Kiili accidentally mixed up the names of national leaders during a church service at St. Mary’s AIPCA Church in Kathelwa.

The minor slip sparked laughter among congregants and guests, turning what was a routine address into one of the day’s memorable highlights.

Kiili, who was addressing the congregation, quickly caught his mistake and corrected himself, drawing cheers from the crowd. The brief mix-up showcased the human side of the legislator, who has become known for his humorous and relatable public interactions.

The event was attended by top government officials, including President William Ruto, who was in Meru to announce major development projects for the region.

The President revealed plans to elevate Meru to city status and build a State Lodge by December, signaling a new phase of growth for the county.

Kiili, serving his first term in Parliament, has been keen on balancing his role in national politics with the needs of his constituents.

Since his election in 2022, he has positioned himself as a strong advocate for the miraa industry, which remains the backbone of Igembe Central’s economy.

The MP has consistently pushed for better markets, improved farming practices, and government support for local farmers.

He has also called for peace and stability in the region, especially following incidents that have disrupted farming and trade activities.
