It has been a busy day in the Gusii region today as two top presidential contenders held separate events.
President William Ruto who seeks his re-election in 2027 attended a church service at Kisii primary grounds as pastor Peter Morwabe hosted him.
Former interior cabinet secretary Doctor Fred Okeng'o Matiang'i attended a church service at Tonga Seventh Day Adventist Church in Nyamira and later addressed residents of Nyamaiya ward at Miruka market.
Fred Matiang'i told his supporters that his competitors has a plan to shame him by winning the By-elections in Nyamira so that they will tell the rest of the country that he is not able to be president.
The 2027 presidential hopeful said that there are several by-elections in the entire country and president Ruto has not attended any of them, instead he has chosen to be in Kisii to dish out money in a bid to woo the voters to vote for UDA candidates which will in turn portray him as a weak candidate.
Matiang'i called on the voters not to allow him to be put to shame by voting for candidates of his party in the upcoming by-elections.
