Former President Ruto's advisor Moses Kuria has come out strongly in defense of ODM leader Raila Odinga amid ongoing speculation about the former prime minister’s health.
Kuria recounted how Raila personally visited him several times during his hospitalizations between 2020 and 2022, even when they were on opposing sides of the political divide.
He described Raila as a compassionate and humane leader, expressing disappointment in those spreading rumors about his condition for political gain.
Kuria said it was painful to see some leaders using Raila’s health as a campaign tool, reminding them that politics should never override humanity and respect.
His remarks come after reports circulated suggesting Raila had been hospitalized in the United Kingdom, claims that ODM has since dismissed, clarifying that he was abroad on official duties.
Kuria’s statement has drawn mixed reactions online, with many commending his show of empathy and others interpreting it as a call for civility and compassion in Kenya’s often divisive political environment.
