JUST IN: Natembeya Officially Crowned as Luhya Spokesman by Elders in Mudavadi's Political Bedroom

Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya has taken his politics to the next level after receiving official blessings from elders to become the Mulembe community spokesperson.

In a colourful ceremony held in Sabatia Constituency in Vihiga County, the elders converged and welcomed Natembeya with his entourage into the region.

The elders then performed the ritual which meet all the customs put into places by the Luhya culture. He was given a fly whisk symbolising an official permission to go traverse the whole country and speak to other partners on behalf of the Luhya community.

In accordance with the Luhya customs, a ceremony of such magnitude cannot be conducted past 3 pm, which is considered to be the time when the cattle that had gone to the field to graze, comes back home.

The event is expected to spark mixed reactions and new realignments in the politics of the vote rich region. Notably, Sabatia is the village home of the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi– a man whose position Natembeya is challenging.
